Overview
Phoenix Contact FL SWITCH 2000 Series Family — Intelligent Switches for Managed Automation & Robust Diagnostics-capable Machine Networks:
The 2000 Series intelligent switches from Phoenix Contact enable requirements-based configuration and monitoring options for machine networks. At the same time, operation is made easier. The cost-effective switches reduce the data load in the network using multicast filtering. Redundancy mechanisms enable stable communication, even if loops are formed accidentally or if devices fail. These functions are already available in Unmanaged Mode. Therefore, configuration is not necessary. Further functions can easily be configured using an SD card or the smart mode button directly on the device.
The 2200 and 2300 versions of the Managed Switches from the 2000 series offer the ideal scope of functions, variety of versions, and approvals for universal automation applications. Even in harsh conditions, such as those in maritime environments or process technology, networks can be implemented with cable lengths up to 80 kilometers. Maximum flexibility is also offered by versions with various fiberglass connection methods. As LLDP and advanced multicast filter functions are supported, they can also be used in PROFINET and EtherNet/IP™ without any problems.
In the unique unmanaged mode, the 2000/2100 switch behaves like an Unmanaged Switch. This means that you do not have to configure it, and it does not have an IP address. In contrast to a classic Unmanaged Switch, however, it nevertheless strengthens the machine network, because redundancy mechanisms and filter functions are active in the background. The switch therefore provides you with the network stability of a Managed Switch, without configuration outlay. The intelligent 2000 and 2100 switches support both the Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) and the Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP) as a client. If communication within the network is interrupted due to a device failure or a faulty cable, both redundancy protocols ensure that the communication paths are switched over. They therefore maintain communication within the network, ensuring that there are no downtimes.
